Director of Operations

This position manages, schedules, and administers all high-level strategic and day-to-day activities associated with the Operations department.  The Director of Operations must maintain clear communication with the senior management team at AB BioTechnologies to ensure sufficient resources to provide successful operations for meeting client needs.  Additionally, the Director of Operations must maintain a strong working relationship with key management personnel and support staff to efficiently execute business/operations activities.  The Director of Operations has oversight of all functions associated with the Operations Department relating to production.  The GMP fitness-for-operation in the processing of product is paramount to the responsibilities of the Director of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • As a member of the senior leadership team of AB BioTechnologies, this position will be involved in Business Strategic Planning, Business Finance Management, Organizational Development and Promotion, and as such; will have visibility/access to Confidential Business and Client information. This information must be handled in an appropriately professional manner at all times.
  • Interface effectively with company budgetary processes to ensure cost-effective development and operation of the Facility and Production operation.
  • Coordinate the efforts of team leaders to maximize group productivity and resolve potential scheduling conflicts.
  • Ultimate responsibility for all functional and process-related issues arising from or within the Facility and Production operation.
  • Keep all projects on schedule and ensure that quality standards are maintained.
  • Promote a continuous improvement philosophy in operations, evaluating current practices and refining them as needed to meet company goals more effectively.
  • Develop and maintain records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Generate, Review, Approval documentation associated with Operations and related functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Position Title(s) Supervised: Manufacturing Supervisors/Operators, Inspection Supervisors/Operators, Finishing Supervisors/Operators, Packaging and Labeling Supervisors/Operators, Documentation Coordinators, Materials Management Supervisors/Operators
  • Approximate Number of Subordinates: 12 – 15

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Position requires B.S. or equivalent experience in an Operations field, along with >10 years related experience in a pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing environment.  Strong Technical and Leadership abilities are necessary.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule requiring limited off-hours and weekend work needs.

TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND OTHER RESOURCES USED

  • Various software applications sustained by a Windowsä (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Technical Writing ability necessary
  • Print-Reading ability necessary

  • Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.
  • Ability to read and understand applicable materials
  • Manual dexterity to operate manufacturing equipment and calculator/computer
  • Able to read and interpret test results and instrument specifications
  • Able to complete training as required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office, laboratory environment, Manufacturing areas, and clean room environments.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
